Expert Profile:

Prof. Dr. Roslina Othman has experience teaching at several universities including University of Bahrain, Kingdom of Bahrain. At Jazan University, Saudi Arabia, she established the Women Section, College of Computer Science and Information Systems, and the Quality Academic Unit. She was a Visiting Professor at Hanoi University of Culture, Vietnam. She has been fully sponsored under the EU Grant FP7 and H2020 to present her proposal on semantic-based search engines and attend research meetings and networking in Luxemburg, Brussels, Vienna and Sweden. She was a consultant for KM Technology and NIEW bridging gender digital divide programme.

Roslina Othman has led research projects under TechnoFund, FRGS, ERGS, PRGS, MIRGS and internal grants, contributing to the Islamisation of search engines and search systems and the novelty ruler for discovering patents in Islamic Finance domain. Her work has produced sense level dictionaries and ontologies in Arabic, English, Chinese and Malay.

Roslina Othman’s book Trends in Information Retrieval System has been used as a textbook and a reference book at several universities. Her publications have been used as references for teaching at universities in USA, Canada, Taiwan and Dominican Republic, and she has presented papers at national and international conferences at 15 countries.

Roslina Othman has served as the Director for Alumni and Career Services Division, and the Focal Point (IIUM) for Graduate Employability at the Ministry. She has produced the Blueprint for Malaysia Cambodia Alumni, Blueprint for Malaysia-Indonesia Alumni and initiated the IIUM Graduate Employability Portal. She is also a reviewer for the Qatar National Research Foundation.
